AN EXHIBITION of art celebrating the history of Newhaven’s fishing community is going on display next month at Dundas Street Gallery.

The collection, dubbed “The Herring Lassies” and painted by city-based artist Davy Macdonald, recreates the past life and work of the fishwives of Newhaven, who sold fish from the Firth of Forth in the markets of Newhaven, Leith and Edinburgh.
