Fury as fatal crash ban lifted

THE mother of a teenager killed by her boyfriend's reckless driving has hit out after discovering that his driving ban has been lifted.

Lynzay McKay, 19, died after Stuart McGill lost control of his sports car as he wove in and out of traffic at 70mph.

The MG ZS car ploughed into a telegraph pole killing Ms McKay from Larkhall, and leaving McGill badly injured. The impact of the crash, in September 2004, was so severe the car was broken in two.

Ms McKay was survived by the couple's daughter, Elle, now seven.

McGill, 27, also of Larkhall, was jailed for almost four years in 2006 for reckless driving and also received a seven-year ban.

But last week his driving ban was quashed, while he served only 20 months behind bars.

Last night Anne McKay, 51, of Larkhall, said: "I think it is terrible that he didn't spend the full term in jail and now it is the same with the driving ban.

"He should have served the full sentence for what he did."
