Fundraising pupils set out case for charities

WEST Lothian College staff transformed themselves into Duncan Bannatyne-style characters on a recent visit to Bathgate Academy.

Pupils took part in fundraising activities as part of the Trade Up project, which sets out to encourage school leavers by helping them to realise their strengths and gain success by working together.

The youngsters prepared bird boxes, newspaper racks and cakes for sale and presented a case for their chosen charity before a panel of judges made up of college and school staff.

The judging panel eventually settled on Macmillan Cancer Support as the recipient of the 200 raised by the pupils.

Trade Up has proved highly successful at Bathgate Academy with 98 per cent of pupils securing a positive destination following the course.
