Fundraising drive to keep lifeboat crew well afloat

SOUTH Queensferry Lifeboat Station is set to benefit from a fundraising drive launched by Scotmid Co-operative.

Staff and customers at 280 stores across the Scotmid and Semichem networks in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England aim to raise 150,000 over the next 12 months for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Scotmid staff will be organising a range of activities, from beach parties to sponsored walks and cycles.

Part of the money raised will be used to cover the cost of maintenance for lifejackets.

Scotmid Co-operative chief executive, John Brodie, said: "The RNLI volunteers are our unsung heroes, risking their lives to save others at sea."
