Fundraiser reaches for the skies on her 80th birthday

UNLIKE most ladies her age, Margaret White decided not to celebrate her 80th birthday with a quiet family party.

Instead, the super-gran, from Dunfermline, pulled on a parachute and took to the skies, raising money for the life-saving leukaemia charity the Anthony Nolan Trust at the same time.

Mrs White has supported the charity, which finds bone marrow donors for leukaemia sufferers, for three years.

She said: "I've always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie and when the opportunity to do a skydive arose, I just couldn't resist.

"The skydive was like nothing I have ever experienced before. I was very nervous and the hardest thing was actually stepping out of the plane, but once I did, I had a brilliant time."

Mrs White, who celebrated her birthday on 20 March, has already raised more than 800 in sponsorship for the trust.
