Fun on the cards from Nick Clegg as other leaders happy to be left holding the baby

New babies take pride of place on this year's Christmas cards from Britain's two main party leaders, but the Lib Dems' Nick Clegg enlisted the help of two young designers - his sons Antonio, eight, and Alberto, six.

The card they drew shows the Deputy Prime Minister - appropriately attired in a Liberal Democrat yellow tie - and his family in the likenesses of gingerbread characters.

It features the whole family, including the boys' younger brother Miguel, who will be two in February.

David and Samantha Cameron have used a picture of themselves with their new baby daughter on the front of their card. The image was taken as the Prime Minister's family returned to No 10 with Florence Rose Endellion for the first time on 3 September.

The photo was the first to feature the baby together with both parents. Florence was born in Cornwall, where the Camerons had been holidaying, on 24 August. Inside the card, the message reads: "Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."

Labour leader Ed Miliband also showcased his family in his Christmas card, using a photograph of himself, partner Justine Thornton and their two sons.

In the black and white image, the Opposition leader cradles Samuel, born last month, while Ms Thornton holds Daniel, who is one and a half. The message inside reads "Season's Greetings".
