Mowat, from Maryhill, Glasgow, had been sentenced to five years in prison at the High Court in Glasgow in February 2010.

He was transferred to HMP Castle Huntly last November.

The prisoner is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today.

Tayside Police issued an alert after the prisoner failed to return following his temporary release. Mowat was described as 5ft 10in tall, with short black hair and brown eyes.
