Fringe performers act up to help city homeless project

A CAPITAL homeless project is set to receive a donation from Fringe performers raised through two charity gigs.

Street performers each contributed a few minutes of their own act in two shows that each lasted for more than an hour, and have decided to donate the proceeds to Streetwork.

Streetwork CEO Gordon Watson said: "It's fantastic that the Fringe performers have chosen to support Streetwork and are engaged with the vital work we do in the city. The proceeds of the benefit gigs will be put to use immediately by supporting outreach on the streets.

"We are also hoping that these benefit gigs will become regular events during the Fringe each year, to support Streetwork's unique outreach services."

The Fringe also heralded the opening of the initial stage of Streetwork's social enterprise scheme, Captain Taylor's Coffee House on South Bridge.
