Friends mourn man found dead in Botanic Gardens

TRIBUTES were being paid yesterday after the body of a man was found in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens.

Fears were growing that the body is that of Callum McColl, 24, who disappeared on Friday evening after a night out at a city centre nightclub.

A police spokeswoman said the death was being treating as unexplained at this stage and that a formal identification would not be made until after a post-mortem examination.

However, friends of McColl, a former architecture student who lived with his parents in Houston, Renfrewshire, have already begun posting tributes on Facebook.

One friend wrote: "Sad news… thoughts are with family and those close to him" while another friend posted: "Absolutely gutted. Such a horrible thing. Thinking of everyone close to him.

"Rest in peace Callum, such a loss. xxx"
