Fresh role for broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli

CONTROVERSIAL broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli has been made an ambassador for Scotland's Year of Food and Drink.

The appointment comes despite a suspension from BBC1's The One Show last year after a female co-worker alerted producers to Mr Singh Kohli's "inappropriate behaviour". Mr Singh Kohli, 41, worked as a reporter for the show at the time.

Kirsty Innes, a spokeswoman for VisitScotland, said: "The BBC has advised us there has never been any formal complaint against Hardeep.

"He has been appointed as an ambassador for Scotland's Year of Food & Drink for his dedication, hard work and commitment to promoting Scotland's fantastic locally produced food."

The Year of Food and Drink is being celebrated until May 2011.
