A COUNCIL is flush with success after winning the top UK accolade in the public toilet roll of honour at the annual Loo of the Year awards.

Aberdeenshire Council also received the Scotland award for its public toilets, and earned a place in the “Champions League” for standards of excellence, awarded to organisations with ten or more entries with five or more five-star awards, at the
annual awards ceremony in Solihull, West Midlands.

The authority also picked up an award in the non-attended toilets category for its facilities at Castle Street in Huntly, and a further award in the beaches category for its toilets at the harbour in Gardenstown.

Angus Council won the top national award for baby-changing facilities and Highland Council won the national award for an eco-friendly toilet.
