Four sue over breast surgery

FOUR woman have launched legal action against NHS Lothian over the quality of their breast reconstruction.

Figures obtained by the Evening News under the Freedom of Information Act have shown the claims have been raised in the past three years.

At least one of them has been successful, with the woman involved being awarded more than 250,000.

The health board said all the claims came from women who had received breast reconstruction after illness such as breast cancer, and not cosmetic surgery as a result of self-esteem or aesthetic reasons.

It is not known if the other three claims have reached a conclusion.
