Four months for gun threat in stairwell

A MAN was locked up for four months for threatening "to put holes" in a woman and making gun gestures.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard Peter Morgan, 27, had gone to his ex-girlfriend's address and an argument had begun.

He was shouting in the stairwell for around an hour before he threatened a woman. Fiscal depute Melanie Ward said: "The accused shouted he was going to get people to get her and he was going to put holes in her and then waved his hand about as if he was holding a gun and said 'bang bang'."

Morgan, of Edinburgh Prison, admitted breaching the peace on 9 January this year at Edinburgh's Magdalene Gardens.

Sheriff John Horsburgh QC told Morgan: "This incident was one of some duration and it involved serious alarm."

His sentence was backdated to January of this year when Morgan was first remanded.
