Four Lothian road deaths in three months

FOUR people were killed and 66 seriously injured on roads in the Lothians between April and June, new figures have shown.

Three fatalities were recorded in Edinburgh over the three-month period, while 38 suffered serious injuries and 261 minor injuries.

Across the Lothians, 509 people suffered minor injuries in road accidents.

Among those seriously injured were four children, while another 46 youngsters suffered a minor injury. Out of victims who were seriously injured across Lothian and Borders, 16 were cyclists, 14 were motorists, 17 were vehicle passengers, 18 were pedestrians and 21 were motorcyclists.

Four pedestrians, a motorist and a motorcyclist were among the dead.

The majority of those suffering minor injuries were motorists at 242, with passengers at 129.
