Four hurt after police van crash

FOUR people were taken to hospital yesterday after a police van answering an emergency call was in collision with a car.

West Yorkshire Police said none of the three police officers and one civilian driver who were hurt in the incident in Leeds are thought to have life threatening injuries.

A spokeswoman said the collision happened at 11am at the junction of the A61 Regent Street and Skinner Lane, just to the north-east of the city centre: "It is believed the police van had its blue lights and sirens on."

She added: "All of them have been taken to hospital."

The force has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
