Four charged with illegal hare coursing

FOUR men have been charged as part of a police crackdown on illegal hare coursing in the North east of Scotland.

Grampian Police yesterday revealed that three men from Aberdeen, aged 16, 48 and 69, and a 22-year-old man from Montrose had been arrested following alleged hare coursing incidents at St Katherines and Clola, in Aberdeenshire. The incidents were said to have taken place on agricultural land on Saturday.

Hare coursing became illegal in Scotland in 2002 and carries a fine of up to 10,000 and six months' imprisonment.
