Four charged after fight outside Dundee night club

FOUR men have been charged with breach of the peace following an incident involving a crowd of 40 men outside a Dundee city night club in the early hours of this morning.

More than 20 police officers from Police Scotland were called to the scene outside Fat Sam’s nightclub in the city’s South Ward Road where a crowd of 40 men had gathered, hours after Scotland’s clash against England at Wembley;

A force spokesman said today that investigations were continuing into the incident and that the enquiries would be trying to establish whether the incident was “football related.”

The spokesman said: “Police Scotland are appealing for information following an incident in South Ward Road, outside Fat Sam’s nightclub, Dundee, at about 2.30am this morning. An estimated group of about 40 men were gathered in the street and, as a result of their presence and behaviour, in excess of 20 police officers attended at the scene

“The crowd were dispersed within about 15 minutes.”

He continued: “Four males – aged 16, 17, 19 and 22-years-old - have been arrested and charged with a breach of the peace and are expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow. Others had their details taken at the time and are subject to further enquiry with an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident continuing today. Those enquiries will also seek to establish whether the incident was football related.”

The spokesman added: “No one was injured as a result of the incident. As part of their enquiries Tayside Division is liaising with local licensees and the Procurator Fiscal. A review of CCTV is also underway. Officers would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who has information that could assist them to contact 101

“Furthermore, anyone who may have footage on the incident on their mobile phones should contact the police as the coverage they have may be able to assist the investigation.”
