Former football captain is named as car crash victim

A VAN driver who died in hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the A93 in Perthshire was named yesterday as Scott McIntosh, 26, a keen amateur footballer from Blairgowrie.

Mr McIntosh, who worked for a tyre company in the town, died in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on Wednesday after he was cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle and airlifted to accident and emergency.

The accident involved two vans and an articulated lorry on the Perth to Braemar road, five miles south of the Spittal of Glenshee.

Mr McIntosh, of David Street, Blairgowrie, was driving a delivery van for McConechy's Tyres and Exhausts when the collision occurred.

He was a former captain of Balmoral United amateur football club in his home town.

The A93 was closed for several hours as road collision investigators carried out investigations at the scene of the fatal crash.

A police spokeswoman said: "Investigations are continuing." and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
