Footie match raises £1000 for charity

SPORTING staff at The Centre in Livingston have raised £1000 for its nominated charity of the year after taking part in a sponsored football match.

A team made up of centre management, contractors, shop staff and security battled in heavy rain against a team from the Livingston Designer Outlet to raise funds for River Kids.

The game, which took place at the pitches beside Livingston Football Club, was cheered by supporters and representatives from the charity. Designer Outlet won the match 6-1.

Alex McGinness, technical services manager at the Centre, said: “I was delighted to present River Kids with a cheque for £1000. Although we didn’t win, I am very proud of the team who took part.

“We enjoyed the game so much we plan to organise something similar more regularly to raise even more money for charity.”
