Footballer’s trial is adjourned

Footballer David Goodwillie has had his assault trial adjourned until the new year.

The Blackburn Rovers striker is accused of attacking a man in a city-centre street. The 22-year-old Scotland international denies punching John Friel, 23, on 3 November last year in Glasgow’s Queen Street. He was due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday.
