Football is the goal for summer

A STREET football scheme is set to be run by police in a bid to provide activities for youths over the summer holidays and keep them out of trouble.

Police have been working with Street Soccer (Scotland) to develop the programme in Midlothian.

The sessions for youths aged 12 to 18 will run at the Mayfield Leisure Centre every Friday between tomorrow and August 17 between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, and at Cowden Park in Dalkeith starting this Saturday and continuing weekly between 6.30pm and 9.30pm until August 18.

A police spokesman said: “Young people will be provided with an opportunity to meet new people.”
