Food link-up for hospital

A PROJECT to promote fresh, healthy food has teamed up with a city hospital.

The Astley Ainslie Hospital in Morningside has linked up with the Edinburgh Community Food Initiative, which now operates a regular stall for staff, patients and visitors at the hospital.

Each Wednesday it offers cheap fruit, vegetables, milk and other healthy products.

Robert Aitken, assistant general manager of the hospital, said: "The aim is to encourage staff to have a healthier lifestyle by making it easier to access fruit and vegetables, as well as other produce which is competitively priced compared with the supermarkets."

The stall also sells eggs and oats.
