Food depot set to create 100 new jobs

A HUNDRED new jobs will be created in Livingston later this year with the opening of a new food distribution depot.

Nisa-Today will open the 195,000 square foot depot on the Dean's Industrial Estate in November.

It is the firm's first distribution centre in Scotland and will dispatch goods for sale across the country, to the north of England, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

It will be operated by distribution firm DHL.

The firm's John Sharpe said: "We are delighted to have opened the depot in Livingston and create jobs in the area.

"The depot has the necessary capacity for future growth and reduces our food miles by moving goods closer to our customers.

"As Livingston is located in between Glasgow and Edinburgh, there is a high level of skilled labour in the area, which will be extremely beneficial to our business."
