Follow the Yellowcraig road a while

A THREE-hour geo-trek along the East Lothian coast is being organised for hikers with a passion for geology.

The geo-walk of Yellowcraig will take in beautiful sandy beaches and a variety of igneous rock that form the county's islands and headlands - formed as a consequence of violent volcanic activity throughout the Carboniferous period.

Walk leader Angus Miller said the walks were perfect for nature lovers.

"My programme offers a variety of opportunities to explore the rocks of central Scotland in short, informal day walks.

"It includes many of the best geological sites in the Lothians and Fife, places where you can get to grips with the fascinating stories that the rocks have to tell. The pace is slow, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the rocks, the landscape and wildlife."

The trek, which takes place on November 6, from 10am, costs 8 per person.
