Focus on hate crime victims

A NEW campaign urging people who are victims of hate crime due to their sexuality or disability to contact police has been launched in the Lothians.

The campaign will see posters, leaflets and postcards detailing examples of incidents that could constitute a hate crime.

The campaign is aimed at members of the disabled and LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender) communities.

From today, crimes committed against people because of their actual or presumed disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity will be classified as aggravated hate crimes.
