Fly along to Pan creator exhibition

THE creator of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, is the focus of a new exhibition which opens at the National Library of Scotland today.

The display marks the 150th anniversary of Barrie's birth.

Among the items on display is a rare booklet of one of Barrie's earliest plays, Caught Napping, printed in 1883, which is one of only three copies in publicly accessible collections.

Curator Stephanie Breen said: "It is wonderful to be able to celebrate JM Barrie's 150th anniversary by creating this special exhibition. The display will enable people to catch a real glimpse of the life and times of the man behind Peter Pan, seeing first-hand personally penned items alongside eye-catching literary rarities.

"The stories behind some of these items are fascinating too.

"We hope that people will visit and won't miss the opportunity to get up close to a man who did indeed grow up but will never be forgotten."

The exhibition runs throughout May, is free and open daily.
