Flatmates' terrifying ordeal at hands of raiders

Police have launched an inquiry after two armed raiders broke into a flat where six people were sleeping and forced them into a room before robbing the property.

The men, who were armed with knives, entered the home in Salamander Court, Leith, on Sunday morning. They gathered the six friends in the living room, then punched a 22-year-old man in the face and demanded money.

The raiders searched the house and stole a three-figure sum of cash, a laptop and several mobile phones. But while the men were distracted, the 22-year-old jumped out of the window and went to Leith police station to report the incident.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "Although no-one was seriously injured, this will have been a terrifying ordeal for everyone involved.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward."

The six friends were all aged in their early 20s. The suspects are described as being white and in their mid-20s.
