Flat plan for Crolla's shop

The former Crolla's convenience store in Newhaven is set to be turned into a flat.

Crolla's was a staple of the Newhaven community for 115 years until its closure back in March.

Owner Mark Crolla, grandson of Ben Crolla who founded the store in 1895, blamed its closure on supermarket giant Asda taking business away from the store since it moved into Newhaven nearly two years ago.

Tearful customers bid farewell to the store on March 21 this year.

He now runs a new Crolla's on Broughton Street and was granted planning permission to turn the old store into a flat.
