Five hurt in vehicle crash

FIVE people including a ten-month-old baby have been injured in a collision between a van and a car.

The accident happened at Easter Howgate, near Penicuik, at 4:10pm yesterday.

In the car, two females, both aged 45, and the ten-month-old baby boy suffered cuts, bruising and shock. Two men in the van were also left with cuts and bruises.

All five were taken to the ERI for a check-up, but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

It is believed that the two vehicles, which were travelling in opposite directions, collided when the van turned off to travel down a side road. Eleven firefighters attended the incident.
