Fishing boat nets suspected torpedo

Bomb disposal experts have blown up a suspected torpedo pulled up in the nets of a fishing boat.

The crew alerted the Clyde Coastguard when they caught the 10-12ft device two miles off Troon, Ayrshire, at about 9:30pm on Thursday. The torpedo was put back overboard and marked with a buoy, and the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team blew it up yesterday.
