Fisherman rescued as boat sinks

A FISHERMAN was rescued by another vessel after a mayday call yesterday morning. The nine-metre boat started taking on water in the Moray Firth about five miles north of Lossiemouth at 8am.

After coastguards broadcast his distress call, the crew of a nearby boat plucked the man to safety. His Buckie-registered boat, Silver Rock, then sank.
