Firms urged to lodge appeals

BUSINESS owners who feel they were hit unfairly by changes to rates payments have been urged to lodge an appeal.

The deadline passes on Thursday for anyone wishing to challenge the recent revaluations.

Enterprise minister Jim Mather said yesterday: "The fact is that the majority of ratepayers in Scotland are better or no worse off following this year's revaluation. But, as is always the case when a revaluation takes place, there will of course be businesses who may disagree with the valuation. I would encourage these businesses, if they have not done so already, to appeal against their valuation before this week's deadline."
