Firms failing female drivers

NOT enough companies are offering driver training to women who use their cars for work while men are well served by firms.

A poll by the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) shows that only 22 per cent of women who drive to work or use their car for their job have been offered training by their employer.

But as many as 94 per cent of men who drove to, or for, work had been offered training.

Simon Elstow, head of training at an IAM subsidiary,

said: "We would encourage female drivers to request driver training as part of the employer's duty of care."
