Firefighters work through the night tackling Duke Street fire in Glasgow
Around 30 firefighters have worked through the night tackling a blaze at a derelict building.
The alarm was raised at 8.40pm on Thursday about the incident in Duke Street, Glasgow.

Hide AdA Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters worked through the night to contain a large fire which had taken hold within a two-storey derelict building in Glasgow’s Duke Street.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was first alerted at 8.40pm on Thursday, June 18 to initial reports of a fire within a large quantity of refuse and tyres. It thereafter developed and took hold of the nearby derelict building.
“Operations Control mobilised a total of six fire appliances to the scene. More than 30 firefighters were in attendance at the height of the incident and crews worked through the night to contain the fire.
“A loud explosion heard by many people in the area was caused by a gas cylinder which was hidden amongst the tyres and waste.
“There were no reported casualties.

Hide Ad“While the fire has now been largely extinguished, four fire appliances remain in attendance today, Friday, June 19 as crews work to make the area safe.”
Area Commander Roddie Keith is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s Local Senior Officer for the City of Glasgow.
He said: “This has undoubtedly been a technically challenging and protracted incident, and crews have worked through difficult conditions to contain the fire and prevent further damage or fire spread.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Operations Control, our firefighters and our partners for working to keep the community safe throughout this ongoing incident.”

Hide AdA spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "Around 8.55pm on Thursday, 18 June, 2020 officers were called to a fire in a derelict building on Duke Street.
“Officers attended to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a number of local road closures were put in place.
“Officers remain at the scene at this time."
There were no reports of any injuries.
The roads currently closed due to this incident include:
Duke Street at Abernethy Street
Todd Street at Carntyne Road
Biggar Street at Forge roundabout
Shettleston Road at Duke Street.
