FIREFIGHTERS have put out a blaze at a Midlothian mansion.

Crews from Tollcross and Dalkeith attended the fire at Preston Hall house after receiving a call at 1.26pm today.

A spokeswoman from the fire service said that the fire had started in a first floor bedroom of the late 18th-century country house and has now been extinguished.

She added that the extent of the damage is not known at this stage though the fire is understood to have been small.
