Fire treated as suspicious

POLICE are treating a fire at a pub in the early hours of the morning as "suspicious".

Emergency services were called to the blaze at O'Leary's Bar in Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, at around 2:10am yesterday.

No-one was inside at the time, but the building is said to have been well alight and "significant" damage was caused. Strathclyde Police said an investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.

Detective Inspector Laura McLuckie, from Rutherglen CID, said: "Fortunately, no-one was in the bar at the time. However, the building itself has suffered extensive damage."
