Fire destroys Railtrack centre

A FORMER Railtrack training centre in Rutherglen has been destroyed by fire.

When firefighters arrived, the blaze had already taken hold in the single-storey building and was ripping through the unoccupied premises.

The incident commander requested support in the quest to quell the fire on Sunday night.

Fire crews were hampered by poor water supplies, but were able to contain the fire to the unoccupied building and prevent it from spreading to the many adjacent industrial units.

The fire was eventually brought under control after four hours.
