Fire crews fight blaze at Glasgow boxing gym

More than 30 firefighters have fought a blaze at a boxing gym in Glasgow.

Seven crews from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue attended the fire at Morrison’s Gym on Swanston Street in the Dalmarnock area of Glasgow.

The gym is owned by Alex Morrison, a boxing promoter who manages world champion Ricky Burns.

The service said no one was injured in the fire and the cause is yet to be identified.

The fire is the second large-scale incident for Strathclyde Fire and Rescue this week after the blaze in the former Co-op Funeral Service building in Glasgow.

Around 80 firefighters dealt with the fire at the empty property where flames shot 100ft in the air and sent a large cloud of black smoke over the city centre.
