Fire crews extinguish Fort George blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze which started during a training exercise at the Fort George military base in Ardersier, near Inverness.

Gorse bushes caught fire while Royal Engineers based at Kinloss in Moray were carrying out routine demolition training at the range.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze at 1.50pm on Monday.

Twenty firefighters, three pumping appliances, a water carrier and an all-terrain vehicle were sent to the scene.

They fire was extinguished within an hour.
