Fire crews continue to battle wildlife fire at Kilpatrick Hills

Scottish Fire and Rescue are continuing to battle a huge wildfire at the Kilpatrick Hills in Clydebank.

A post on Twitter said: "We remain in attendance at this incident, with four fire appliances on scene.

"Crews are working to contain and extinguish the flames which are affecting around 1.5 miles of grassland, and firefighters will remain in attendance for some time. #KilpatrickHills #Clydebank"

Last night, the blaze could be seen racing across a wide area of the Kilpatrick Hills.

Fire crews were forced to leave the blaze due to darkness - but returned early this morning.

A spokesperson for the SFRS told the Clydebank Post: “We were alerted at 6.41pm on Monday, April 20 to reports of a wildfire close to Cochno Road, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.

“A total of four fire appliances remain in attendance as firefighters work to extinguish the fire which is affecting approximately 1.5 miles of grassland.

“There are no reported casualties.

“Crews will remain in attendance for some time.”
