Fire breaks out after blast near Hunterston plant

An explosion has caused a fire at a converter station near Hunterston nuclear power station.

No one has been injured in the blast in North Ayrshire, and the building affected is not part of the Hunterston complex.

It is believed the incident took place at a converter station used for an undersea power cable. The building was damaged following the blast, with pieces of its outer cladding shaken loose.
