Fine and ban for high-speed chase gardener
Police activated their blue flashing lights when they spotted how Martin Grieve's car was being driven outside a pub in Penicuik, and he then drove off at speed.
In the chase that followed, speeds of up to 80mph were reached before Grieve lost control on a bend and mounted a verge.

Hide AdAt Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday the 31-year old, of Carlops Road, Penicuk, was fined 300, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to sit the extended driving test.
He pled guilty to driving dangerously on 2 August last year.
Fiscal Depute Neil Allan said that Grieve's Vauxhall Astra reached speeds of up to 80mph on the A702 as he overtook another car on a blind bend.
Defence agent Elspeth McDougall said her client had "panicked" when he had seen that a police vehicle was following him.
