Finance sector plan for Charlotte Square

A BERMUDA-based property giant has revealed ambitious plans to turn Charlotte Square into a bustling home for the city's financial sector.

Fordell Estates has been buying up sites on the historic Georgian Square for the past two years.

The firm, along with Edinburgh-based Corran Properties, proposes turning a series of townhouses into "boutique" office space to attract top clients.

The venture aims to reverse the stagnation of the square, which has seen an exodus of banking and legal firms over the past two decades.

However, significant changes to the traffic system would be required, and the conservationist body the Cockburn Association said developers still had a "lot of work to do to make the case for their plans".
