Film about Trump project wins award

A DOCUMENTARY about American business tycoon Donald Trump's controversial golf course project in Aberdeenshire has won an award at a prestigious film festival.

The film, You've Been Trumped, was made by a two-man team who spent a year following the story and questions the decision to back the proposed "best golf course in the world".

Last night at the 2011 Sheffield Doc/Fest, the film, which explores Trump's campaign to buy up local people's homes to make way for his 1 billion golf complex, won the Green Award.

Commenting on the documentary, the jury said: "We hope that this award will raise awareness and hold Donald Trump to account for his environmental and social belligerence and expose the corruption and incompetence at the heart of the Scottish authorities which let this destruction go ahead,"

Just two days ago a bitter war of words broke out ahead of the Scottish premiere of the film which is scheduled to take place this Friday in Aberdeen.

Director Anthony Baxter said residents fighting the plans claim they have been "bullied" and "victimised" and the development would sabotage a sensitive environment.

He is also seeking an apology from Grampian Police after being detained following an incident while making the film.

But Trump International accused Mr Baxter of being "a fraud".
