Few Britons save for a rainy day

Eight out of ten Britons claim to be regular savers but many have short-term saving goals, a survey suggests.

About 84 per cent of people say they were setting aside money on a regular basis, according to the Post Office.

But 36 per cent said they were saving for a holiday - twice as many as the 18 per cent who were saving for a rainy day.
