Festival set for launch

Dalkeith will come together this Saturday for the town's 2011 festival.

Events kick off at King's Park at 2pm, with the programme of entertainment including fancy dress judging, pony rides, baton twirlers, live music, a wrecking ball, bungee football and a beer tent.

At 10.30pm, there will be a display of Chinese lanterns over Dalkeith.

Preparations are already getting under way for next year's festival - the event's 50th year.
