Festival back to Meadows

THE Taste of Edinburgh Festival is set to return to its original venue on the Meadows, it was reported today.

Scotland's largest food and drink event was forced to relocate to Inverleith Park last year and struggled with high running costs and a lack of passing trade.

A return to Inverleith was ruled out and it was feared that if the use of the Meadows was not permitted the festival could be cancelled or moved to Glasgow.

But, despite a clampdown on the number of events held on the Meadows to prevent damage to the grass, the council is reportedly expected to give Taste of Edinburgh organisers the green light within weeks.

A spokewoman for Taste of Edinburgh said: "We have submitted an application to the city council and are waiting to hear the outcome of the decision."
