Female police officers rise

THE number of female officers serving with Lothian and Borders Police has risen over the last year while the number of male colleagues fell, new figures have shown.

A total of 792 female officers were on the force in December last year, an increase of 15 on the same time a year before.

Meanwhile, the number of male officers dropped by 11, falling from 2266 to 2255.

In December, 3047 officers were serving with the force compared to 3043 a year before.
