Female police chief charged

A HIGH ranking policewoman has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. Lothian and Borders Chief Inspector Allison Strachan, 48, was arrested at her Edinburgh home on Tuesday.

Police have released her and she is due to appear at court next month. A police spokesperson said: "A 48-year-old police officer has been arrested and charged in relation to an ongoing inquiry."

Ch Insp Strachan was in charge of Corstorphine police station

She has been the public face for a number of Lothian and Borders Police operations.
