Fears over debts crisis

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service says it is increasingly concerned about the ability of people in the Capital to repay their debts.

The charity found the number of its clients in Edinburgh able to repay their debts plummeted to lower levels than the year before the financial crisis.

Debt View also revealed that 954 people from Edinburgh called its helpline last year. The free line, 0800 138 1111, is open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday.
